The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is one of the largest funders of cancer research in the world. But, from 2011 to 2015, the NCI’s funding of CRC research dropped by more than 20%. The drops in funding must not continue for the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths for men and women in our country!
It’s estimated there will be around 135,000 people diagnosed and 50,000 who pass away from the disease this year. Out of those diagnosed, 56% will be facing colorectal cancer that has spread to other areas of the body.
There currently is no cure for colorectal cancer, although treatments have helped save and extend the lives of many survivors. We need investments into research that will push us closer to finding a cure.
Sign the petition to show you’re courageously speaking out and support colorectal cancer research.
Research is the first step toward taking meaningful action. We must not only maintain, but increase, funding to address the issues unique to the CRC community. This cancer impacts many people over age 50 but the rise in cases amongst those under age 50 gives us concern. The research community needs funding so they can find answers and investigate potential causes. The impact could be huge and improve prevention and early detection efforts!
Please sign this petition asking Congress to not only fund cancer research - but to prioritize research for the #2 cancer killer in the U.S. Join our community, the One Million Strong, who are courageously demanding a cure for this disease.
Sign the petition and help us keep research funded.
